The River That Sings

Time will make
The grass lay down
Under my feet
As I make my path
To the waters edge
Of the river that sings.

Time will make
The pain lay down
Go fast asleep
On my journey
From the quiet place
To the river that sings.

Time will make
The wind blow down
My troubles and sorrow
Will fall like stones
To the side of the road
Of the river that sings.

Time will make
The trees bow down
And give cool shade
As I listen and fill
My open heart with song
From the river that sings.

  1. That's beautiful and exactly the experience I was trying to share with you that day by the ocean
    Looking up at the mountain.
sleeping high above civilization where the brightest things are the stars
and all the dirt and grime from.the city below disappear
With the breathing of nature all around.
And you forget whatever mental trappings
    Were bothering you
    As like you said
    The river sings
    And I say
    As the earth embraces you
    Reminding you
    You are hers.

  2. Very nice Ken Owen. Thank you and thanks to Barbara Corff for sharing it on my Facebook page. We have a music camp called "RiverTunes" and this beautiful piece of writing reminds me of our lil' camp. Thanks again. Respectfully, Joe Craven
